First Quarter Moon
The dark circular area in the upper right is Mare Crisium (Sea of Crises), which is just to the right of Mare Tranquillitatis (Sea of Tranquility), site of the Apollo 11 landing in 1969.

The apparent diameter of the moon is about 30 arc-minutes, or half a degree.

This image was taken from our back yard in Kenmore around 9:00 pm on September 23, 2001.
