Elliptical
Galaxies in Virgo
This pair of elliptical galaxies is roughly 55 million light years
away. M86, on the left, is 186,000 light years in diameter. M84, just
right of center, spans 100,000 light years. Two spiral galaxies, seen
edge on were captured near the edges of this
frame: NGC 4042 on the top and NGC 4388 near the bottom
edge. |
