Moon
The dark circular area in the upper right is Mare Crisium (Sea of
Crises), which is just to the right of Mare Tranquillitatis (Sea
of Tranquility), site of the Apollo 11 landing in 1969.
The apparent diameter of the moon is
about 30 arc-minutes, or half a degree.

530 mm focal length, f/5, area of the aperture reduced
by a
factor of 100 using a mask with a small hole in the center to prevent saturation of the CCD camera.
Minimum exposure time for the ST-7E camera is 0.11 seconds. Separate exposures taken with red,
green and blue filters. |
