Andromeda
Galaxy The bright central core of the Andromeda Galaxy, M31 is seen on the left, with its companion galaxy, M32 on the right. The field of view here is about 30 arc-minutes wide, or half a degree. In longer exposures under darker skies, M31 subtends over 3 degrees of sky, or six times the width of this photo. The Andromeda Galaxy is 2.3 million light-years away from earth and 130,000 light-years wide. |

It was hampered by a nearly full moon and bright outdoor lights from our
neighbor's homes.
